Due to this blanking plate the hot exhaust gases no longer reach the intake manifold. When the oil from the crankcase breather mixes up with the hot exhaust gases from the exhaust gas recirculation, it will creat a few millimeters thick oil soot film in the intake manifold to the EGR valve, reducing the port diameter significantly. This reduces engine power and increased fuel consumption.

It only fits the type of EGR valve pictured. Will not fit the EURO 5 or engines fitted with motorized valve that are set in a cast Aluminum water cooled unit.
